My name is Aung, pronounced “Oun” (similar to “sound,” but without the “d” and “s”). It’s a common Burmese name that signifies “win,” “victory,” or “success.”
In Burma, names are often chosen based on the horoscope and the day of the week a child is born. For example, children born on Sundays usually have names beginning with the letter “A”, like in my name.
It’s not customary in Burmese culture to have family names as in many other cultures. Most people’s first or last names are not necessarily tied to their father’s or family’s surname.
So, a bit about me: I am originally from Rangoon, Burma. I then went to Bangkok, Thailand, to dive into college life. From there, I took a leap into entrepreneurship in Singapore before finally living in Australia.
Nowadays, people will find me juggling a few things. But when I’m not busy with that, I’m all about following my passions! I’ve got a real knack for photography, media arts and production. People often catch me out and about, travelling the world, hitting the golf course, or finding quiet with Vipassana meditation.
